HABEMA STRENGTHENS RELATIONSHIP WITH YOPARU RESIDENTS THROUGH SOCIAL COMMUNICATION

Sug­a­pa Intan Jaya, SniperNew.id – One of the mil­i­tary units under the com­mand of the Indone­sian Armed Forces Oper­a­tional Com­mand HABEMA, the Task Forces of the Raider Infantry Bat­tal­ion 509/Balawara Yud­ha Kostrad, is cur­rent­ly con­duct­ing mobile secu­ri­ty at the bor­der of Indone­sia and Papua New Guinea, espe­cial­ly in the Intan Jaya Regency, Papua Ten­gah Province. On Thurs­day, 19 Sep­tem­ber 2024, the 509 Task Forces, espe­cial­ly the Holo­ma­ma Post led by First Lieu­tenant Wanianto, vis­it­ed the Yoparu Vil­lage, Sug­a­pa Dis­trict, and con­duct­ed Social Com­mu­ni­ca­tion (Kom­sos) while con­duct­ing pro­tec­tion tasks in the area. This Kom­sos aims to fos­ter trust and coop­er­a­tion between the Indone­sian Armed Forces (TNI) and the local com­mu­ni­ty to sup­port the Indone­sian Government’s pro­gram of accel­er­at­ing the devel­op­ment of the Papua region.

Empha­siz­ing the piv­otal role of the com­mu­ni­ty, the Com­man­der of the 509 Task Forces, Lieu­tenant Colonel Dian Dessi­awan Setya­di, stressed the impor­tance of the Task Forces’ focus on the com­mu­ni­ty’s fun­da­men­tal needs in the assigned area. There­fore, on Thurs­day, the Sol­diers took advan­tage of their task by help­ing the Yoparu res­i­dents through social com­mu­ni­ca­tion and dis­trib­ut­ing help of basic neces­si­ties pack­ages to the local peo­ple.

By pri­or­i­tiz­ing secu­ri­ty dur­ing activ­i­ties, har­mo­nious inter­ac­tions between TNI Sol­diers and res­i­dents have result­ed in a close rela­tion­ship between the two par­ties. To increase famil­iar­i­ty, the Sol­diers dis­trib­uted pack­ages of basic neces­si­ties need­ed by the res­i­dents of Yoparu Vil­lage. The com­mu­ni­ty mem­bers were very enthu­si­as­tic about wel­com­ing the pres­ence and help from the 509 Task Forces. One of them, Mr Agusti­nus Wan­im­bo, expressed his impres­sion: “Praise God, thank you, Com­man­der 509. God bless.”

Upon receiv­ing the activ­i­ty report, the HABEMA Com­mand­ing Gen­er­al, Brigadier Gen­er­al Lucky Avianto, com­mend­ed the 509 Task Forces’ ini­tia­tive to con­duct social com­mu­ni­ca­tion and dis­trib­ute pack­ages of basic neces­si­ties to res­i­dents of Yoparu vil­lage. His words: ‘The 509 Task Forces’ ini­tia­tive is a tes­ta­ment to TNI’s com­mit­ment to con­duct inclu­sive Social Com­mu­ni­ca­tion with all stake­hold­ers to sup­port the accel­er­a­tion of devel­op­ment in the Papua region.’ This recog­ni­tion from the high­est author­i­ty in HABEMA is not just a com­men­da­tion but a tes­ta­ment to the sig­nif­i­cant impact of such ini­tia­tives on the region’s devel­op­ment. It instills pro­found hope and opti­mism about their poten­tial to shape the region’s future pos­i­tive­ly. It makes the Task Forces and the com­mu­ni­ty feel rec­og­nized, val­ued, and respect­ed for their efforts. It gives every­one a sense of hope and opti­mism about the region’s future devel­op­ment.
